BANHAM

Protect what you cherish

The UK’s home security sector has traditionally been centred on rational proof points such as specifications and performance. With the advent of new digital features, competition is continuing to focus on technical aspects, together with affordability.

While Banham is also in the home security category, its situation is very different, because, as a brand, in addition to excellent performance it is a symbol of luxury.

The opportunity for Banham has been to build on 100 years of service in London and the South East, protecting some of England’s finest homes, by strengthening its emotional connection with consumers.

The creative approach was grounded in a clear insight - security equipment per se carries little intrinsic appeal. It is viewed as a necessity. Yet it enables people to preserve the things they genuinely care about, and through this insight, the campaign shifts the focus away from threat and prevention, to the reassurance that comes from knowing what you truly value is well protected.

The line ‘Protect what you cherish’ became the organising idea for the creative platform.

To bring the idea to life, the campaign centres on a particular group of people whose affinity for the objects they own borders on devotion, namely collectors.

A select group of collectors was curated, each photographed with objects that they cherish. Every collection was chosen for its distinctly British character - royal memorabilia, milk bottles, antique teddy bears, and Spice Girls memorabilia - niche artefacts accumulated over decades. Together they convey a sense of British eccentricity, with each collector devoted to their specific area with remarkable commitment.

Banham has long formed part of the fabric of London life, synonymous with discretion, craftsmanship, and quality. The ‘Protect what you cherish’ idea now reinforces its identity as a discreet luxury brand in service of the objects that people care about most.

The platform also elevates Banham from a transactional provider of security to a brand that contributes to broader cultural conversation. In doing so, it creates ongoing editorial potential, enabling new stories and new expressions of what it means to value something deeply.

For SUM, the work demonstrates how a luxury brand strategy based on emotion can be applied to a category defined for decades by rational functionality. Through narrative repositioning and editorial thinking, Banham now builds upon its authority as a luxury heritage security brand, with a renewed sense of emotional resonance.
